Oh Iowa

Here are a few pictures from the exciting weather we've been experiencing in Iowa. The first couple are from the ice storm we had a couple weeks ago and the last ones are from earlier this week. We got a couple inches of snow on the first day of February.

It's hard to see, but there is an eagle in that tree. They always hang out around the river, because it doesn't freeze over. It's pretty much like national geographic every day here. Here is an eagle looking for a fish.

Dave commands the geese. BTW, I thought geese flew south for the winter. Well, it's definately winter and Iowa is definately not south. If I were them, I wouldn't stick around this frigid place!

I love the dendritic symetry of nature.

A rare fog scrouding Lund's famous landmark.

Sunrise on the White Pine Range

Sunset on Schoolhouse Peak

Our temporary stalactites.

Oh, how we long for summer, but Oh, how winter can bring unique beauty of its own.

The desert surrounding St. George was blaketed with a beautiful

scroud of snow the night before the race.

Fire and Ice *** The little cinder cone in Snow Canyon.

I've never seen it with snow before.

Tired, sore, and freezing, but happy as can be with

a good hard 13.1 miles. Lisa in at 2:09, Bill at 1:38

Lisa is focused and oblivious of her #1 fan and

photographer as she nears the finish.

The day before the race we attended the St. George

Temple and did the temple work for Lisa's great-great

grandparents. We stayed with Henry and Mary Mendoza,

and were also able to see Aunt Eve, and Denny and

Marsha Fuhriman.

Okay, let's try this again.

Hey, I finally reset my password and now can enter stuff on the family blog. Here's a few pics from Christmas break from Montana, Utah, Nevada, and California.

A little Christmas

Christmas 2009 was the bomb. Here's a little of what I remember in pictures.

marshmallow world times two

Iowa turned white this week. It's been beautiful and frustrating at the same time. Why Beautiful:
1. I love fresh snow
2. I love cancelled school
3. I love hot chocolate

Why Frustrating:
1. Car
2. Running
3. Utility Bill

It's hard to have hops in the snow... so don't judge.

Don't worry, this is NOT one of our bikes. Ours are safe and sound.

We had this guy named Lorenzo come and stay with us while he was interviewing for a residency at the hospital. He drove down early from Ann Arbor, MI to avoid the blizzard. We helped him clean off his car so he could get to his interview. Good thing he had four wheel drive or he might still be here!
