a big bug

I found something else in Grandma's magical backyard. It was...

a bug!

an Oakley bug. sitting with the Grandma bug.

this bug was also seen eating blackberries, trying to pick up deer droppings, holding as many rocks as possible, and splashing in hose water.... shirtless.

Grandma's backyard

Grandma's backyard seems quite ordinary at first sight:  green foliage, broken down fences, shroud of trees, etc...  However, in just a few minutes, with a closer investigation I rediscovered why I so loved growing up in this backyard.
                                                                   The morning dew
                                                           Busy bees at work
                                                              Blackberries for the taking
A nut head trying to hide
                                                     Holly waiting for Christmas
                                                                     Nut heads target
These guys were having a pollen overdose
Chickadee pondering the meaning of life
                                                     Permian crinoid fossils in Oregon???
This little guy likes grandma so much, he ventured into her garage

Quayle Reunion, Zion, and other adventures

Bill's awesome camera work catches Gabe underwater at the spring.
Concerned Gus is not so sure.
Showing off my talents on the miniature golf course. Actually, Bill, James, and Gabe won the Quayle miniature golf tournament. I was just being nice.
The Guipres have roots in Caliente.
Lesly poses by our local petroglyphs.
Grandma find a new pet, a horny toad.
Enjoying the cool shade at Bill's favorite Zion swimming hole.
"Look what dropped from the sky!"
Big horn sheep putting on a show.
With a 105 temperature, we are enjoying the weeping wall.
James and Bill enjoying the swimming hole.
 Gabe gives it a try.
A nice picture, but I had just sprained my ankle.
Bill's great photography on our quiet morning hike in Zion.
It was caliente in Grandpa's childhood home. He enjoyed reminiscing.

King of the petroglyphs!

Utah Valley Marathon and 10k

Bill paces Gabe to a 10k PR of 53:21
 Awesome medals!
I wish Gabe could have paced me to a PR, but it was not in the cards.
"How much farther to the finish line?"
 Finished!
"Someone put me out of my misery!"

Brita: "We're not going to lose Dad today"
I'm not sure how much I enjoy the pain, but oddly enough, I am already looking at my next training plan.

Mom: A Woman of Steel

On Saturday I had the great chance to see Mom compete in the Women of Steel sprint triathlon in American Fork. She looked great and looked like she was just out for her everyday workout. She definitely motivated me to hop on my bike more often.
Way to go, Mom, the triathlete!!
